Gorey v Bray

Girls U16
Posted on November 5th, 2017

We have played 2 away matches so far

Our first game of the season was in Bray, against Bray 3 on the 15/10/17. Gorey team won 1-0, with Muireann Deegan scoring the goal. Gorey were unlucky not to come away with a higher score, where everyone played extremely well with great passing and teamwork.   Woman of the match- Muireann Deegan.

"great to see such a range of goal scorers"

The second match was against Muckross in Muckross. Gorey came out triumphant and won 4-0. The goal scorers were Muireann Deegan, Rachel Mc Sweeney, Tegan Veitgh and Zoe Kenny, great to see such a range of goal scorers and hopefully making their first goal will be a confidence booster for them all.

Man of the match was awarded to Aislinn Buttle our youngest player on the pitch for her amazing preformance that day.

Gorey v Loreto

Girls U16
Posted on November 5th, 2017

The Under 16 team saw Gorey play Loreto in Astro Active, Enniscorthy.
Gorey got off to a promising start continuously pressurising the Loreto defense. With strikes saved from Zoe Kenny, Rachel McSweeney and Tegan Veitch. After a lot of skilful play by the Loreto goalie Zoe Kenny scored the first goal (1-0).

"great to see such a range of goal scorers"

From the restart midfielders Sadhbh Corcoran, Muireann Deegan and Siofra Bairead continued to work hard to maintain possession. Sadhbh Corcoran took the ball up the wing and passed it into the circle across the goal, after a flurry of activity, Siofra Bairead swept the ball into the goal (2-0). Meadbh Bairead made an impressive solo run from the half way line, passed the Loreto defense only to be denied a goal by quick thinking from the goalie.

Loreto attempted to push forward but the strength and determination of the Gorey defense comprising of Niamh O'Halloran, Robyn Swords, Ava Ryan (Player of the Match) and Aisling Kirwan insured that there were no direct shots on Goalie, Ruth Evans.
A hit out from defense found Tegan Veitch who moved forward with precise passing between Tegan and Muireann Deegan. Muireann struck the ball from the right hand side of the circle into the left hand side of the goal. (3-0) Final Score. Well Done.
